57th National Film Awards: 5 Trophies For Kutty Srank:
Shaji N.Karun’s film Kutty Srank walked away with five awards including Best Feature Film at the 57th National Film Awards.
The film also won Best Screenplay awards P.F. Mathews and Harikrishna, Best Cinematography for for Anjali Shukla, Best Costume Design for Jayakumar and Special Jury Award for editor Sreekar Prasad.
Kutty Srank featuring Mammootty, Kamalinee Mukherjee, Padmapriya and Meena Kumari is about a mariner who operates a cargo vessel. It is portrayed from the perspectives of three different women after the death of the protagonist.
Meanwhile, southern music maestro Ilayaraja won the award for Best Background Score for his music in Kerala Verma Pazhassi Raja, which also won the Best Malayalam Film Award. Resul Pookutty got the Best Sound Designer award for the same film.
