Bethany Storro, the young woman who made headlines a few weeks ago when she claimed an African American woman threw acid in her face, leaving her almost unrecognizable was caught in a lie after sitting down with investigators.

Today, just a few short weeks after the alleged attack, Bethany is admitting that the stunt was a complete hoax and she actually threw the acid in her own face.

News that the incident was self-inflicted is shocking everyone but there’s no word on what type of punishment she will face for lying.

Friends, family and community members have been grieving Bethany’s injuries since the incident and were even scheduling a benefit fundraiser for her tomorrow. She was also approached by Oprah to appear on her show to tell the world the story of her attack.

Needless to say, neither event will likely take place.
