The Ernakulam distrrict collector has issued a notice to the Kerala Cricket Association to stop the work on the new stadium.
The stop memo was served after the collector received a report that mangroves were destroyed as part of construction activity. The cricket stadium is coming up in a 34-acre land at Pambayimoola in Edakochi.
Several environment organisation had complained against the felling of the mangroves for clearing the site. The district collector has now requested the Malayattoor DFO to conduct an inquiry and submit a report.
