Lata Mangeshkar Turns 81:Mumbai: Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar turned 81 on Tuesday. Renowned playback singer grows younger with his voice, even as she  gets older.

Known as “Lata di”, she began her singing career in 1942. Until now, she lent her voice more than a thousand films in Bollywood.

Lata de sang songs in more than thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages. He has exceptional voice quality and caliber of the singing took her to “Gunnies Book of World Records for the maximum entry in the world in 1974-1991.

She bagged several awards in her singing career, which includes the Padma Bhushan (1969), Padma Vibhushan (1999), Dada Saheb Phalke Award (1989), Maharashtra Bhushan Award (1997), NTR National Award (1999), Bharat Ratna (2001 ) and three National Film Awards.
