Rameswaram Coast | Tower To Be Put Up in Sea off Rameswaram Coast:

To caution Sri Lankan Naval-men from crossing into Indian waters, the Centre has directed expediting construction of the proposed tower-like strucutre at the sixth islet (sand dune) off Dhanushkodi, police and Naval officials said.

The tower, to be put up by Central Public Works Department, would sport the words “Indian Border” written in bold letters in Hindi, Tamil, English and Sinhala on all sides, they said.

The objective of erecting the structure was to caution Sri Lankan Naval men, who had been accused by Tamil Nadu fishermen of entering Indian waters violating the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and attacking them frequently, Marine Police Deputy Superintendent of Police Thiagarajan said.
